Labor Day! Don't belaboring now...
Labor Day! Today's a day for most of us to take some time off, fire up the grill, and hang out with friends and family.
I leave you today with one thought, that may stoke some commenting conversation:
Don't you hate it when your employer tries to make you feel better by saying things like, "Don't worry there, man. Once we get through this project, we'll have you down to your normal 45/50 hours per week."
45 or 50 hours per week as normal? When the employer expects that as normal, then in my opinion they're disrespecting you. The occasional need to bump your time to 50/60/80/110 hours over a period of weeks or months is completely acceptable in my book, but for an employer to expect you to hang at that rate during steady state is rude. What're your thoughts on this day of labor?
