Ghost Gave my IT Career a Jump-Start...
One of my more favorite lead-in's for a story. You know, as a writer, the hardest part about any piece is coming up with the very first sentence. Often, it'll take a couple of days to get that lead-in just right. Once the lead-in is done, the rest of the piece seems to flow out and usually gets done within a couple of hours.
This particular piece is the second review I've done for Redmond, this time on the Ghost Solution Suite. I love that little tool, and I suspect that most of you do to. The updates to the suite for this version...
...probably won't initially attract too many people to the upgrade until you're ready for Vista. You see, the older versions of Ghost (according to Symantec) don't work all that well for Vista. So, an upgrade is likely necessary for any Vista Ghosting to work properly. The other tools, fantastic for smaller shops, aren't a good fit for enterprise environments.
That being said though, its worth a look-see. Microsoft's ImageX and WDS tools work great and you can't beat the price, but their learning curve is often too much for most shops. If you want easy imaging with a minimum of muss and fuss, go Ghost.
