« How to Make the Server 2003 Adminpak.msi work in Vista* | Main | Server 2008 Terminal Services Part 0: Introduction to the Series »

ScriptLogic Acquired by Quest

It appears the company that specializes in server and workstation management tools has been bought out by another company that specializes in server and workstation management tools. ScriptLogic, with its flagship product that helps administrators lock down their workstations and servers through more flexible and rich policies than Group Policies will become a part of Quest.

I wrote a review of ScriptLogic's newest Desktop Authority version a while back for Redmond. This management platform - most especially with some of its newest features - is excellent. I hope only...

...that the acquisition by Quest doesn't impact their ability to generate valuable new updates and keep Desktop Authority as fresh as it currently is.

Quest is a good company and they make fairly good products. I've had some very good experiences with their AD Backup and Restore tool and their Vintella *NIX Group Policy tool, but somewhat less success with their AD Migration tool (though that may have been my own personal inexperience with their product).

Watch this space and we'll keep an eye on this merger to see how everyone fares.
