Fall Back! Are you Ready for Another Time Zone Schema Change?

Don't forget that Fall Back is nearly upon us! For those of us in time zones where Daylight Savings Time was changed by the Bush administration's energy bill of last year, we've got another change coming up with this upcoming shift to Daylight Savings Time.

For those of us who applied manufacturer patches like this one from Microsoft, you should already be OK with this change. That patch application should have fixed the schema for both updates. But, if you were one who simply changed your clocks rather than apply the patch to fix the problem, you're about to enter a second world of hurt.

Remember that this problem affects not only the Microsoft base O/S, but some applications that layer on top of that O/S as well. If you didn't do this for the change last Spring, you'll need to re-inventory your applications and make sure they've got the correct patches in place prior to the change.
