Microsoft Fast-Tracks Hyper-V Beta Release. Available Today.

The public beta for Hyper-V was supposed to arrive with the RTM of Server 2008. But it appears that Microsoft is now throwing down the gauntlet with their virtualization solution and releasing it a bit early. Namely, today.

As of now, the beta can only be used with the x64 version of Server 2008 Enterprise Edition. It can be downloaded from http://www.microsoft.com/ws08eval.

Microsoft reports that the final release of Hyper-V is still slated for 180 days past RTM. With the acceleration of this beta version, I have my suspicions that that date might be moved to the left as well.
