What Other Options to Microsoft's Network Access Protection are Available?

In all actuality, Microsoft's entrant into the world of network access control and protection is late as compared with other products. At least the version with Server 2008, that is. I've reviewed Microsoft's Server 2008 NAP solution and so far have been relatively impressed with the results. The solution appears easy to install and relatively easy to manage. The only thing I see lacking in it thus far is a level of granularity out of the box that many organizations are going to need.

That being said, I received today a link to a white paper on other vendors' Network Access Control products that seems a compelling read. If you're in the market for within-the-network protection for clients on your LAN, you might consider giving this white paper a read...

A little about the white paper:

As quarantine requirements for network access control (NAC) solutions continue to evolve, three key requirements are emerging. The first is the ability to interactively lead the endpoint user through remediation steps. The second and third involve the protection and visibility models for endpoints contained within a quarantine. Knowing this, out of the various quarantine methods offered by vendors, which one best fulfills these requirements for your organization?

The white paper requires a registration. You can get a copy here.
