Would you Attend PowerShell or Windows Server 2008 Training in Denver?

Now that we're at the end of Don's series on PowerShell, I can announce some new news about the potential for some classroom training on it.

I'm considering setting up a couple of training sessions here in Denver on the topics of PowerShell and Windows Server 2008, both to occur in the early summer. Would you attend?

The PowerShell training would be a 3-day class and the Server 2008 training would be a 2-day class. For W2008, the training would focus heavily on the "What's New / What's Changed" theme of my most recent book. There would be a fee for both sessions, with the cost yet to be determined, but equivalent to what you're used to seeing for these types of training.

If you're local to Denver, near it, or just love the city and would travel, please let me know either via gshields@realtimepublishers.net or a comment below.

Windows Server 2008 2-Day Training: What Interests You?

In relation to our other post today asking your opinions about possible training here in Denver in the early summer, I'm in the process now of building the training package for the Windows Server 2008 "What's New / What's Changed" session. I'm aiming for a 2-day session.

My question to you is: What would you want to see out of this training?

Let me list the topics that I was thinking about including. Each would be a module of the training package. All of these relate to chapters of my book Windows Server 2008: What's New / What's Changed.

Module 1: Introduction to Windows Server 2008
Module 2: Installing Windows 2008
Module 3: Server Management
Module 4: Group Policy
Module 5: Server Core
Module 6: Windows Server Virtualization
Module 7: Active Directory
Module 8: Terminal Services
Module 9: Security & the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security
Module 10: IIS 7.0
Module 11: Other "Most Neat & Cool" Features (Clustering, File Services Role, DNS Role)

Fitting all of this with the requisite labs into two days will make this a whirlwind tour. But, I want to touch on all the biggest new features you'll see (and of those, the ones you're most likely to use) with Server 2008.

What am I missing? What would you want to see? What aren't you interested in? Do you like the order? Please, share your thoughts!

Have you Had User Account Control (UAC) Fail You? I Want to Know...

I'm in the process now of researching a story for a future magazine article on the pro's and con's of Vista's and Server 2008's User Account Control. Yes, its annoying, and yes it can protect against some kinds of attacks.

What I'm looking for are specific examples of where UAC hasn't protected a machine from an infection event or other bad situation from occurring.

If you've had such a situation and want to chat about it, either anonymously or not, please drop me a line at gshields@realtimepublishers.com or drop it in a comment to this post.

Thanks!
