BREAKING: Vista SP1 Upgrade Causing Some Sound Issues

Maybe this doesn't completely qualify for BREAKING status, but I just completed the upgrade of my personal workstation to Vista SP1. The upgrade was a dream, albeit a bit long one. The only problem I had was a complete loss of sound to my Creative X-Fi Fatil1ty sound card. For me the solution was to upgrade to the newest drivers.

I did a little research on this and it appears that others are experiencing this problem as well. Luckily, the fix appears to be relatively simple: Uninstall your problem sound driver from Device Manager, then do a Scan for Hardware Changes to force a driver reinstall. That (and/or a driver upgrade) has appeared to fixed most problems so far.

Detailed info on the fix can be found at: http://www.groovypost.com/howto/microsoft/vista/fix-dell-sound-issues-after-windows-vista-sp1-rc1-upgrade/
