Server 2008 RTM: First Impressions on Performance

I'm still poking around the RTM code for Server 2008. But I wanted to drop a quick line to say that I'm impressed with the difference in performance between the RC1 and RTM code. This is to be expected with the post-RC1 period having mostly to do with final bug fixes and code performance enhancements. It also involves the removal of any code checking features, all of which get stripped out of the final product and all of which slow down beta versions.

I can definitely say that running Server 2008 on VMware Workstation 6.0.2, the performance is acceptable. I'm running a server instance now with only 512M of RAM and getting noticeably better performance than I used to see with pre-release versions.
