Ericom's Free PowerTerm WebConnect: TS Web Access on Steroids
If you've played around with Terminal Services in Server 2008, its likely that you've seen how the TS Web Access role service can enumerate the available RemoteApps on a Terminal Server.
Its likely that you've also realized how limited TS Web Access truly is. You can't limit which icons a user should see based on their credentials. There are few appreciable logs with which to audit user access, and there is no way (without some fancy development work and a SharePoint site) to aggregate RemoteApps across multiple servers.
Or, you can download Ericom's free PowerTerm WebConnect tool, found here. This tool does it all, and brings to TS Web Access the functionality we wished existed in the first place. What's interesting about this license is that it is free and perpetual license for even business use, so any environment can legally use the license for production use.
I got a chance to see the tool at the Ericom booth while at VMworld this year, and even recently held a podcast interview with Ericom's CEO Eran Heyman. While unobtrusive, its a powerful add-on to Microsoft's Terminal Services.
Still want more information? Microsoft actually has a 300-level on-demand webcast found here that explains the use of the tool and how to get it incorporated into your environment. Nice.
