SCOM 2007 Operations Guide Released -- Its about Time...

Interestingly enough I was just on the phone with a member of Microsoft's support team the other day asking about just this guide -- and now I see its been released!

The Deployment Guide is a fairly good document discussing the placement of servers in an SCOM hierarchy, the installation process, and the initial configuration. But, that guide stops there. The actual use of SCOM is all in the Ops Guide...

This guide includes the pertinant information needed to understand the process of reviewing and resolving alerts, creating overrides, developing custom monitors, tasks, and alerts, and SCOM backup and recovery.

The most useful part, IMO, of this guide will be demystifying the seemingly complicated process of creating customized monitors, tasks, and alerts. I've created some of these necessary components myself, but the GUI to do so has a stiff learning curve.
