PowerShell Training at www.scriptingtraining.com

Don Jones and I had a great conversation today about PowerShell, and he gave me the chance to look through some of the courseware for his and Jeff Hicks' upcoming PowerShell training opportunities with www.scriptingtraining.com.

The material is top-notch, includes quite a bit of background material to help you understand why you need PowerShell and where its best used, and has plenty of examples to walk through.

Now, admittedly this isn't free training like you're used to seeing me post here. But, this looks to be worth the couple of bucks...

The course is two days long and goes over the following topics:

Day 1

Architecture and Overview
Navigating Your System
Key Cmdlets for Windows Administration
The PowerShell Pipeline
Objects in the Pipeline: Grouping, Sorting, and More
Security Features
WMI Overview and Use

Day 2

Basic Pipeline Filtering & Comparison Operators
AD Overview and Use
More Key Cmdlets
Scripting Overview
Objects, Variables, Arrays, Escapes
Working with Scope in PowerShell
Advanced Operators
Scripting Constructs: PowerShell’s Scripting Language
Modularization: Creating PowerShell Scripts, Scriptblocks, and Functions

Don tells me that they're having problems finding enough seats for everyone who wants to sign up. So, there's definitely some interest in the market for upgrading our skills to this new language.

Heck, I was talking with a fellow consultant the other day who was completing his first Exchange 2007 installation. According to him, it is just plumb not possible to do many of the necessary actions in E2007 without using PowerShell. The necessary bits are no longer in the GUI.
