Microsoft Recommends Reg Hack to Fix IE Post-Patch Instability Bug?

Here's an odd one. If you've been following or been plagued by the recent IE instability bug that arrived with the installation of MS07-069, I'm seeing reports that a potential solution for the problem involves a reg hack. That's not the usual practice by Microsoft. Having upgraded to Vista myself, my XP exposure is less than its ever been.
