Greg to Present Designing Your Virtualization Architecture in Denver on October 29th

I've been asked to present my highly-successful session Designing Your Virtualization Architecture for the free Rocky Mountain Windows Technology User Group's Virtualization Event coming up at 12:30p on October 29th. The RMWTUG is a well-established group run by Dennis Demartek who plans on 300-500 people in attendance at this meeting. In addition to myself and Dennis as speakers, they plan to have Claudia Castellanos from Lewan & Associates and Jeff Drescher from BakBone presenting. Here's the agenda:

  • Registration and check-in 12:30 p.m. 2:00 p.m.
  • Exhibits Open 12:30 p.m. 1:00 p.m.
  • RMWTUG Welcome and Comparison Presentation 1:00 p.m. 2:00 p.m.
  • Virtual Storage for a Virtual World 2:00 p.m. 2:30 p.m.
  • Break and Exhibits Open 2:30 p.m. 3:30 p.m.
  • Designing a Virtualization Architecture 3:30 p.m. 4:30 p.m.
  • The Changing Face of the Datacenter... 4:30 p.m. 5:00 p.m.
  • Reception and Exhibits Open 5:00 p.m. 5:45 p.m.
  • Prize Drawings (you must be present to win) 5:45 p.m. 6:00 p.m.
Plan to spend the afternoon if you're in the Denver area. With as many sponsors that have signed up to attend, this looks to be an excellent way to get away from the office for a half-day and learn about virtualization's promise for the IT environment.

Here's a short description of the session that I'll be teaching:

CA reports that 44% of virtualization deployments ultimately fail. The biggest problems with those implementations relate to poor planning and bad expectations. If you're considering making a move to virtualization, or even if you've already made the jump but into a less-than-stellar result, you need to attend this high-level session with Virtual Architect Greg Shields. We'll talk about the best practices for designing a world-class virtualization architecture that scales, meets your need, and ensures you get the best bang for your virtual dollar.
