Microsoft Releases First Starter GPOs

Starter GPO's are a new functionality associated with the Vista/Server 2008 combo. I blogged about their use here. For the click-shy, they're effectively a mechanism for easily sharing "most neat & cool" GPOs around with friends and fellow administrators.

To get the ball rolling, Microsoft has released a set of two Starter GPO's that relate to the Windows Vista Security Guide and the Windows XP Security Guide. These two Starter GPOs pre-populate a GPO with the settings needed to automatically configure a targetted machine per the Specialized Security-- Limited Functionality (SSLF) and Enterprise Client (EC) recommendations for each operating system. (If you've read the security guide, you'll know what these mean).

You can download your Starter GPO's here: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=115690
