How to Get a Microsoft Hotfix without a Call to Microsoft

If your company doesn't enjoy a Microsoft Premier Support agreement, the process of obtaining a hotfix can be time consuming and painful. Nothing worse than being able to see the hotfix, but having to undergo the hours of pain to get it on the phone.

Well, thanks to some thoughtful snooping over at Steve Patrick's blog, it appears there's a way to get those hotfixes without a call to Microsoft...

Steve post (in its entirety):

In this new age of the internet...

You now can obtain a hotfix without having to interact with a single soul ( no phone calls etc.. ) Easy and convenient.

Take for example my previous post for the netlogon DCR - 928576 which doesnt even have a public article yet. Try it...

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;928576

It errors out - no such article.

But - thanks to the Big Brainers ( seriously ) who think about our customers and really do care about their experience .. you can now simply go to thisURL and download most any fix

https://support.microsoft.com/contactus2/emailcontact.aspx?scid=sw;en;1410&WS=hotfix

You will get a form mail in response, and in it will be a link to the http site you can download the fix from.

Man -- this makes life SOOOO much easier for a lot of folks.

Right on! I haven't tried this yet myself, but believe you me I'll be saving this blog post for the next time I need one!
