Extending Client Logging with WSUS

I reported earlier on the location of WSUS' log files, both for the client as well as the WSUS server itself. Last night, while doing some further research on WSUS I discovered how to increase the log level for one of those files -- WindowsUpdate.log.

If you're trying to troubleshoot client issues with WSUS (or even SCCM or SCE) you can increase the log level by...

...adding to registry values at the location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Trace.

First, set the REG_DWORD value for Flags to 7. Then, set the REG_DWORD value for Level to 4. This will dial up the amount of logging being done to the WindowsUpdate.log file at the client.
